When a customer has a problem with a machine or control system not properly functioning for whatever reason, it is important to be able
to quickly diagnose the cause of the problem and take corrective action. Without remote connectivity to the machine, it can be difficult to do this in a timely and cost-effective manner; travel to another physical location to determine the source of a problem, or provide other technical support. It has been reported that “Having access to information and being able to take corrective action remotely decreases field service costs by $1K to $5K per trip.”
