The North Pacific Paper Corporation or NORPAC paper mill is an integrated paper mill producing over 750,000 tons of paper annually including newsprint and environmentally friendly copy paper for home and office use. The mill operates three paper machines including No. 1 and No.2 that were commissioned when the mill opened for business in the year 1978 and 1980 respectively, and a third machine No. 3 and Deink mill added later, commissioned in the year 1990. The NORPAC mill was originally formed in 1979 as a joint venture between Japan’s Nippon Paper Industries and Weyerhaeuser Company, but in late 2016 became a part of One Rock Capital Partners. Like most every integrated paper mill across the globe, NORPAC has been faced with rising operating costs and the threat of declining markets.
